How Much Does It Cost to Build a Website in Edmonton in 2026?

Website design cost in Edmonton AB for a professional small business website by Gro Digital Studio

If you’re a business owner in Edmonton, there’s a good chance you’ve Googled “how much does it cost to build a website in Edmonton” to learn what a professional website will set you back.

And to be honest, Google does not give you a clear-cut answer.

I searched Google for this exact term, and this is what I read:

Building a website in Edmonton typically costs between $1,500 and $10,000+, depending on whether you DIY, hire a local freelancer, or work with a full-service agency.

Not to mention all the ads on Facebook for the $99 website. Pretty confusing, right?

Clearly you can see that not all websites are built the same way.

And that is really the part that matters.

A $99 website, a DIY website, a freelancer-built website, and a custom agency website are not usually offering the same thing. They may all technically be “websites,” but the strategy, structure, SEO setup, design quality, support, and long-term usefulness can be very different.

So, how much does it cost to build a website in Edmonton in 2026?

The honest answer is this:

A basic DIY website may cost a few hundred dollars a year.

A simple one-page professional website may start around $1,500.

A small business website with multiple pages often starts around $2,500 to $5,000.

A larger custom website through an agency can easily range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more.

And yes, all of those options can make sense depending on where your business is at.

If you want a deeper breakdown of the different costs involved, including domain names, hosting, email, plugins, e-commerce, and maintenance, I also wrote a full guide on what goes into the cost of having a website

When a cheap DIY website makes sense

For some business owners, the cheapest option really is the best option.

If you are just starting out, testing a new idea, or you do not have much budget yet, a DIY website can be a practical place to begin. Platforms like Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, or a basic WordPress template can give you somewhere to send people when they ask for your website.

A DIY website may be a good fit if:

  • You are brand new in business
  • You have more time than budget
  • You only need something simple for now
  • You are not relying heavily on Google traffic yet
  • You are comfortable learning the platform yourself
  • You do not mind making updates and fixing little issues as they come up

There is nothing wrong with starting simple. I would much rather see a business owner get something clean and basic online than stay stuck for months because they think they need a huge website right away.

The downside is that DIY websites can become limiting pretty quickly.

They may look okay on the surface, but they are not always built with proper SEO structure, strong service page flow, local search in mind, or a clear customer journey. And for a busy business owner, the time it takes to figure it all out can become more expensive than just hiring someone to do it properly.

When a higher-end website makes sense

On the other end, a more expensive website can absolutely be worth it.

If your business is established, competitive, growing, or bringing in a lot of leads through your website, investing more can make sense.

A higher-end website may be a good fit if:

  • You need custom features
  • You have a larger team or multiple departments
  • You need advanced booking, e-commerce, portals, or integrations
  • You need full branding, copywriting, photography, and strategy
  • You are in a very competitive market
  • Your website plays a major role in your sales process
  • You want a full agency team handling the project

There is a reason some websites cost $10,000, $15,000, or more. Bigger projects take more planning, more strategy, more design work, more development, and more people involved.

For the right business, that investment can make a lot of sense.

But not every small business needs that.

And this is where I think a lot of business owners get stuck.

They feel like their only options are a cheap website that may not really work for them, or a big agency website that feels like too much for where their business is right now.

Where Gro Digital Studio fits

At Gro Digital Studio, my website pricing sits in the middle.

I am not trying to compete with the $99 website ads. I am also not trying to be a large agency with a big team, big overhead, and big agency pricing.

My website projects are best suited for small business owners who already have a solid business and want their online presence to reflect that.

You do not need something flashy or overcomplicated.

You need a website that looks professional, explains what you do clearly, works properly on mobile, supports your SEO, and gives people confidence when they are deciding whether to contact you.

That is what I focus on.

My one-page websites start at $1,500.
My multi-page websites start at $2,500.

The final price depends on the size of the website, the number of pages, how much content needs to be written, how much SEO structure is needed, and whether your site needs extra features.

For many small businesses, this is a practical investment because it gives you more than a pretty homepage.

It gives you a strong digital foundation.

That means your website is built with your services, your location, your customers, your Google Business Profile, and your long-term visibility in mind.

Who this is best for

My websites are a good fit for business owners who:

  • Are already established
  • Want to look more professional online
  • Are tired of piecing things together themselves
  • Want their website, SEO, and Google Business Profile to work together
  • Do not want confusing marketing jargon
  • Want someone practical and detail-oriented handling the process
  • Need a website that helps customers understand what they offer and take the next step

This is especially important for local service businesses.

When someone lands on your website, they are usually trying to answer a few simple questions:

Do you offer what I need?
Do you serve my area?
Do you look trustworthy?
Can I find the information quickly?
Is it easy to contact you?

A good website answers those questions clearly.

And that is where the real value is.

Not in having the fanciest website on the internet. Not in using every trend. Not in stuffing the page with marketing buzzwords.

Just a clean, professional, well-built website that makes your business easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to contact.

So, how much should you spend?

If you are brand new and still figuring things out, a DIY website may be enough for now.

If you are a larger company with complex needs, a higher-end agency website may be the better fit.

But if you are an established small business owner in Edmonton or the surrounding area, and you want a professional website without the agency runaround, you are likely somewhere in the middle.

That is exactly the space Gro Digital Studio is built for.

A practical, professional website that supports your business, strengthens your online presence, and gives your customers a clear reason to trust you.

Not sure what kind of website is the right fit for your business?

You can reach out anytime if you would like a practical, honest opinion. I will help you understand your options so you can make the choice that makes the most sense for your business.
